Carvalho, Joseph M., of Somerville, and life long summer resident of Brant Rock, Marshfield,  died peacefully on February 14th 2012 with his family around him. Devoted husband of the late Lillian “Lil” (Costa) Carvalho. Loving father of Joseph “Jerry” Carvalho and his wife Diane, Alan Carvalho and his wife Donna. Cherished grandfather of Amy DaRosa and her husband Victor, Deanna Cook and her husband Michael, Tina, Kimberly, Joseph and Christopher Carvalho. Beloved great-grandfather of Adriana Cook, Amber and Tori DaRosa. “Uncle Joe” is survived by many nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends. Funeral from the Rogers Funeral Home, 380 Cambridge St., Cambridge Saturday at 9:30 am followed by a funeral Mass at St. Anthony’s Church in Cambridge at 10:30 am. Visiting hours Friday 4 t o 8 pm.

He was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran  as a Technical Sergeant in the 752nd Tank Battalion and served in the European African Middle Eastern Theater (England, Italy and France).  Joe was a member of the VFW Logan Post #  6800, VFW Dilboy Post # 529 and the Polar Bear Organization.

Joe was the leader of Joseph Carvalho’s Orchestra for over 37 years. He  was the Past President of The Santo Cristo Club of Cambridge as well as the President and Chairman of the Board of the Santo Cristo Feast Committee. He was also the Drill Master of the Santo Cristo Club Girls Drill Team.  Joe also served as President of the Manuel Rogers Association.
