Maria De Fatima (Sebastiao) Resendes, age 78 of Medford passed away on February 18, 2026.
Maria was the beloved wife of Manuel Resendes for over 65 beautiful years. Together, they built a life rooted in devotion, partnership, and unwavering commitment. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love, shared laughter, and standing side by side through life’s joys and challenges.
She is survived by her children, Jose M. Resendes of Salem, NH, Luis F. Resendes of Derry, NH, Lucia M. Mitzen and her husband David of Medford, MA, and Pedro M. Resendes and his wife Fatinha of Londonderry, NH.
She was pre-deceased by her son, Gilberto C. Resendes.
Maria’s heart belonged to her family. She loved gathering everyone together and cooking for those she loved most. Her kitchen was always open, and her table was always full. Preparing meals for her family was one of her greatest expressions of love – a tradition that created countless treasured memories.
Her biggest joy was her grandchildren. They were the light of her life and brought her endless pride and happiness. She cherished every moment spent with them, celebrating their accomplishments, sharing stories, and surrounding them with unconditional love: Kevin Resendes, Alexander Resendes, Scott Resendes, Nicholas Resendes, Andrew Resendes, Tyler Mitzen, Christopher Mitzen, Matthew Resendes, Samantha Resendes, and great-grandson Abel Resendes.
Also survived by nieces, nephews, and many other loving relatives and friends.
Maria will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and the way she made everyone feel welcomed and cared for. Her love lives on in the family she nurtured so beautifully.
Visitation at the Rogers Funeral Home, 380 Cambridge Street in Cambridge, on Monday, February 23, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
A funeral mass will be held in St. Anthony's Church, 400 Cardinal Medeiros Avenue in Cambridge on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at 9:00 am.
Interment will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford.
Those wishing to travel in procession to the church and cemetery are asked to please meet at the funeral home in Cambridge on Tuesday morning at 8:00 am.
