Almas, Gilberta M. (Resendes), of Somerville, June 17, 2018 at age 74. Devoted wife of Francisco “Frank” Almas. Loving mother of Elizabeth Almas, David Almas and his wife Dawn, Daniel Almas and his wife Emily. Cherished grandmother of Alyssa, Tyler, Braedon, Mary, Nicholas, Ella and Jonathan. Adored sister of Maria Jose Resendes, Maria do Carmo Viveiros, Osvaldo Resendes, Isabel Silva and the late Silvia Melo, Conceicao Soares and Eduardo Resendes. Beloved sister in law of Joao Viveiros, Octavia Resendes, Gloria Resendes, Hilda Almas, Antonio and Ascecao Tabicas and the late Antonio Resendes, Manuel Melo, Jose Almas and Rafael Soares. Also survived by nieces, nephews, many other loving relatives and friends. Funeral from the Rogers Funeral Home, 380 Cambridge St., Cambridge on Friday, June 22, 2018 at 8:00 am. Funeral mass at St. Anthony’s Church, 400 Cardinal Medeiros Avenue in Cambridge at 9:00 am. Visiting hours at the funeral home on Thursday, June 21, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.
Gilberta was very religious and was in the process of working with others from her hometown of Faial de Terra, Sao Miguel, Acores, Portugal to raise funds to renovate their home town church.
