Phyllis Salmon WebsitePhyllis Maud Salmon was born in Pike, Manchester, Jamaica, the third of ten children born to Jerusha Salmon (née Malcolm) and Philip Salmon.

Phyllis was known for her warm personality, strong spirit and ability to form friendships that lasted a lifetime. After welcoming her first two daughters, Coral and Yvonne, she made the brave journey from Jamaica to London, where she began building a new life for herself and her growing family.

While in London, Phyllis welcomed her daughters Joy, Beverley and Sheila and worked for several hospitals as a nursing assistant.

In the early 1980s, Phyllis embarked on another new chapter, moving to the United States and eventually making the Boston area her home.

Phyllis also had a great love for knitting and crocheting. She spent many hours creating beautiful pieces by hand and would often gift family and friends with blankets and scarves made with love - treasured reminders of her thoughtfulness.

She will be remembered for her strength, warmth, vibrant personality and the love she had for those around her.

Phyllis leaves behind a beautiful legacy through her 3 daughters, 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, as well as her 4 sisters, 5 brothers, nieces, nephews, many cousins, extended family and dear friends whose lives she touched.

She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered and forever held in our hearts.

There will be a visitation on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the Union Baptist Church, 874 Main Street in Cambridge from 10:30 am to 11:00 am.

Funeral service will follow in the church at 11:00 am.

Burial will be at the Oak Grove Cemetery, 230 Playstead Road in Medford.
