Lastina P. Scarlett
1947 - 2026
Lastina “Yvonne” P. Scarlett was born on June 21, 1947, to Dorothy Phipps and Carlton Dixon. She was also the beloved stepdaughter of Carl Ewing and the cherished granddaughter of Rosabell Burton and Marjorie Williams, all of whom predeceased her.
A devout Christian, Lastina lived by the principles of her faith and belief in a higher power. Her life was centered on God, family, love, service, and generosity. She was a faithful member of Eastern Nazarene Church, where she served diligently on the church board and as a Sunday School teacher. She later joined West Medford Baptist Church. She found great joy in sharing God’s word and nurturing the faith of others, leaving a lasting impact on her church family and community.
Lastina’s journey took her from her homeland, Jamaica, to Canada and later to the United States, where she built a life grounded in faith, perseverance, and devotion to those she loved. She was united in marriage to Frank Scarlett, with whom she shared a loving partnership until his passing.
Though she had no children of her own, Lastina possessed a mother’s heart. She lovingly helped raise many of her siblings, nieces, nephews, and godchildren, offering guidance, encouragement, and unconditional love. She was a source of wisdom, comfort, laughter, and strength. Her nurturing spirit touched countless lives, and her presence was a blessing to all who knew her.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her brothers, Patrick, Carl, Christopher, Robert, Carlton Jr.; her sisters, Rosemarie, Karlene, Barbara, Carol, Nadine, Dianne; her beloved godchildren, Jeff, Ashley, and Dwayne; her nieces and nephews, and many other cherished family members.
She also leaves behind dear friends who became family, including Beryl, Edna, Carol, Dianne, Pastor Ken, Terry, and Egbert, along with many others whose lives were touched by her kindness, generosity, and enduring friendship.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Pauline, and is now reunited with those loved ones who have gone before her.
While we mourn her passing, we also celebrate the extraordinary woman she was and the countless lives she touched. The void she leaves behind is immeasurable, but so is the legacy of faith, love, strength, and compassion she leaves in our hearts. We will carry her memory with us always, finding comfort in the moments we shared, the lessons she taught us, and the love that will never fade.
Her sunrise was June 21, 1947, and her sunset was June 7, 2026. Though our hearts ache in her absence, we rejoice in knowing that her suffering has ended and that she is now at peace. Her battle is over, her burdens have been lifted, and her spirit is forever free. May we honor her life by carrying forward the faith, generosity, and love that defined her.
Rest peacefully, dear Lastina. You will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always loved.

A viewing will be held at the West Medford Baptist Church, 59 Boston Avenue in Medford on Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 9:00 to 10:00 am.
A funeral service will follow in the church beginning at 10:00 am.
Burial will be at the Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge
