Jooao L. Pacheco WebsiteJoao Luis Pacheco of Arlington passed away peacefully on April 12, 2026, at the age of 80, surrounded by loved ones.

A hardworking man of exceptional ethics, Joao served the facilities team at Boston University for over 30 years to provide his children the gift of higher education. He was an avid gardener of kale, tomatoes and peppers, with seeds often sourced from the Azores, and he gave charitably to his community of the Maia.

Devoted husband of Inez (Ponte) Pacheco.

Loving father of Cynthia Pacheco Morris, Derek Pacheco and his wife Nush Powell, Kevin Pacheco and his wife Stephanie Paz.

Cherished grandfather of  Seth Morris, Sophia Morris, and Gwendolen Pacheco – Powell.

Beloved brother of Jose Pacheco and his wife Luzia, Agostinho Pacheco and his wife Maria Edite, and the late Lucis Pimentel, Luisa da Costa, and Manuel Pacheco. With special gratitude to Darlene Ponte Boag, Edward Couto and Barbara Hughes.

Also survived by nieces, nephews, and many other loving relatives and friends.

Visitation at the Rogers & Hutchins Funeral Home, 292 Massachusetts Avenue in Arlington, Friday, April 17, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.

Funeral mass at St. Anthony’s Church, 400 Cardinal Medeiros Avenue in Cambridge on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 11:00 am.   Please go directly to the church.

All other services will be private.
