Olivia I. Ferreira (Invencio) of Salem New Hampshire, formerly of Arlington, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025 at the age of 93 after a courageous 9-year battle with cancer.
Born to Francisco and Maria Augusta Invencio of Sobral Pichorro Portugal, Olivia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years Fernando; her three (3) sons, Fernando and his wife Christine of Charlton, MA , John and his wife Dottie of Arlington, George and his wife Kathy of Salem, NH.
Olivia was a proud grandmother of her five (5) cherished grandchildren who were the light of her life, Olivia, Victoria, Sophia, Isabel and Matthew.
Beloved sister of Alexandrina Oliveira, Maria Carma Sousa, Bernardino Invencio and his wife Angelina, Francisco Invencio and his wife Aurora, and the late Jose Invencio and his wife Helena, Anastasio Invencio and his wife Luisa, Joaquin Invencio and his wife Eliza, Lucilia Catatao and her husband Antonio, Idelina Aguiar and her husband Tadeo.
She all leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving relatives and friends.
Olivia grew up in Portugal and came to the United States in 1957. She was here for five (5) years on her own, working and sending money back home to her mother in Portugal to help support her family. She married her husband Fernando in 1963 and brought him to America.
She worked at Harvard University for 25 years and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Portuguese music, dancing and cooking were a passion for her, along with going back to Portugal for vacations to reconnect with family and friends there. Olivia also loved going to Brazil and traveling on cruises with her husband.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at Salem Haven in Salem, NH and the staff at Amedisys for their care and support over the past few months.
Visiting hours at the Rogers and Hutchins Funeral Home, 292 Massachusetts Avenue in Arlington, on Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 8:30 to 9:30 am.
Funeral mass to follow at St. Agnes Church, Medford Street in Arlington at 10:00 am.
Interment will be at the St. Paul Cemetery in Arlington.
