Richard D. Ribeiro
1962 - 2025
Richard “Rick” D. Ribeiro, of Somerville, passed away on February 20, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 62, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Rick was the devoted husband of Donna (Gallant) Ribeiro, loving father of Philip Ribeiro and his partner Sherri Harrison, Lauren Ribeiro and her fiancé Jason Mota, and Jeffrey Ribeiro and his wife Dr. Melissa Ribeiro.
He was the cherished grandfather of Alana, Ariana, and Carolyn Ribeiro, and the beloved brother of Robert Ribeiro and his partner Kevin Moore, Ronald Ribeiro and his partner Gianna Poirier, and his late brother, Senior Master Sergeant James Ribeiro, and his fiancée Karen Spinosa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Florence (Otis) and Gilbert Ribeiro, and his brothers Steven and Gilbert.
He is survived by many nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.
Rick was born and raised in Somerville, MA, where he met Donna Gallant at the age of 12. After graduating from Somerville High School in 1980, they married in 1983 and soon began their family.
Rick had a long career in IT, starting at Keyport and later working at Aviva & ShoeBuy. He then spent the last 15 years as Vice President of Service Delivery at State Street.
Family was the cornerstone of Rick’s life. His love and devotion to Donna, their children, and grandchildren knew no bounds. He also shared a special bond with his “kitty cat” Lulu and granddogs Remi, Sarge, Savannah & Casey, who brought him joy and companionship.
Rick enjoyed tackling home improvement projects, playing golf, and spending time at the beach. His annual trips to Virginia Beach and Cape Cod were highlights of the year.
He will be remembered for his infectious laughter, quick wit, hard work, and the warmth and light he brought into the lives of those who knew him. Rick is leaving behind a lasting legacy of compassion, generosity, and integrity.
Visiting hours will be held at Rogers Funeral Home, 380 Cambridge Street in Cambridge on Friday, February 28, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.
Final viewing will be at Rogers Funeral Home, 380 Cambridge Street in Cambridge on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 8:00 am.
Funeral mass to follow at St. Anthony’s Church, 400 Cardinal Medeiros Avenue in Cambridge, on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 9:00 am.
Interment will be at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.
