Joseph B. BrancoBranco, Joseph B. “Joe”, of Somerville, passed away after a brief illness on January 22, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 89.  

Devoted husband of the late Alice E. (Valentine) Branco for over 62 years.  

Loving father of Steven Branco and Rosemarie Branco.

Beloved brother of Hermano Branco and his wife Maria, and the late Antonio Branco who is survived by his wife Luisa

Also survived by other loving relatives and friends.

Joseph was born in Sao Miguel, Acores, Portugal, the son of the late Maria de Jesus (Tavares) and Antonio da Costa Branco.

He left the Acores to find a better way of life in Bermuda at the age of 20.  While working in Bermuda he met the love of his life Alice (while she was on vacation) and moved to the United States where they were married and started their family in Somerville.

Joe loved spending time in Bristol, NH at their summer home on Newfound Lake, he enjoyed gardening, fixing things, and making his own wine. But most importantly he cherished the time he got to spend with his family and friends.

Visitation at the Rogers Funeral Home, 380 Cambridge Street in Cambridge on Friday, January 31, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:30 am.

Funeral Mass to follow at St. Jospeh’s Church, 262 Washington Street in Somerville (Union Square) at 12:00 pm (noon).
