FERRANTE, DOMENICO Passed away peacefully at home on October 26, 2024 at the age of 94. He was the beloved husband of the late Antonietta Ferrante and the loving father of Santino Ferrante and his wife Marybeth of Cambridge, Lea Ferrante and her husband Ian Orr of Concord and Linda Francis and her husband David Nash of Essex. He was the proud grandfather of Christopher and his wife Kathryn, Matthew, Alexander, Elizabeth, Alexandra and Gerard, and great grandfather of Coraline and Jonah. He was predeceased by his brothers Rocco of Wilmington, Antonio of Portland, Maine and his sisters Anna of Portland, Maine and Armelia of Cambridge. He was the oldest son of the late Sante and Giovina Ferrante of Manopello, Italy and Cambridge. He was born in Manopello, Italy in 1930. Domenico came to the United States in 1955 with his wife and two young children. After living in Portland, Maine for a year, he and his family moved to Cambridge where he became a lifelong resident.
Domenico was a skilled welder by profession, but his passion was reading and learning. He spent countless hours reading newspapers, books and in the last few years, he discovered the internet and read Italian newspapers and especially enjoyed the daily Wikipedia posts. Above all else, Domenico loved his family. His greatest joy was spending time with his family during the holidays, the summer cookouts, the birthdays and all the other family gatherings. Domenico loved travelling. He often spoke of his trips to Italy, Australia, Canada and various destinations throughout the United States. Since his retirement he particularly enjoyed spending winters in Florida where he and Antonietta made many new friends. Domenico was also a sports enthusiast. He enjoyed following the Italian soccer teams and watching the World Cup, but there was no bigger fan of the WWE wrestlers than Domenico. He was also a champion bocce player and often boasted about having won multiple championships at his Florida condo community. Like all good Italians of his generation, Domenico was an avid gardener. He always had a prize winning vegetable garden. He harvested the last batch of tomatoes and other vegetables from his garden this past week. Domenico's legacy of love, pride and connection will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will live on through the countless lives he touched, and the cherished moments shared with those he loved. Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand.
