Reginald Cochrane Cribbs “Reggie”, was born on December 7, 1946 to the late Margaret Louise (Francis) and Henry V. Cribbs.

Second in line of a family of 8, Reggie followed the footsteps of his father into the United States Military where he served proudly in both the U.S. Army and the Marine Corps as a Sergeant, was a two-tour Vietnam Veteran and the recipient of two Purple Hearts.  Upon retirement from the military, Reggie furthered his education and went into the medical field where he continued his service to our country as a vascular technician in multiple Veterans Affairs medical facilities across the country.

Amongst family, Reggie was known for being both a no-nonsense military man and a fierce practical joker at the same time. There are many stories that have been passed on from his siblings to their children about the antics behind that mischievous smile. A lover of travel, he never stayed in any one place too long, especially if it was cold. No one ever knew when he would randomly show up for a visit, or how long he’d be in town; you would just hear a knock on the door at 5 am and peel your eyes open to find him there smiling at you and ready to go for breakfast!

Reggie passed away peacefully on Friday, December 30, 2022, at the age of 76. Devoted son, brother, uncle and cousin, Reggie is preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and Henry Cribbs, as well as his eldest brother, Masakela Rahman.  Reggie is survived by his siblings: Charity Cribbs, Allen Cribbs, Hope “Mary” Cribbs, Lester Cribbs, Robert “Robbie” Cribbs and Louise “Wezzie” Vicente Ortiz. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving relatives and friends.

Visitation at the Rogers Funeral Home, 380 Cambridge Street in Cambridge on Monday, January 9, 2023, from 9:00 to 11:00 am.

Funeral service to follow in the funeral home at 11:00 am.

Interment will be in the Veterans Section of the Cambridge Cemetery.

Condolences to the family of Reggie Cribbs. I had known Reggie for a very brief time while it seemed destiny had stepped on in. We met thru my youngest son Julian who worked with Reggie. As a retired supervisor with the U. S. Postal Service I worked with many veterans and realized Reggie had had a stroke before we met and had not received the proper care.

Reggie and I were in the process of procuring this care when he was forced to move from Texas after I returned to North Carolina. His untimely passing weighs on my heart because God places people in our paths for a reason.

Sadly, our destiny in improving his health could not be fulfilled and I blame myself for not completing God's work for me.

Please forgive me Reggie.
