In loving honor and memory of Ruby Von Dwornick
May 20, 1957 – October 29, 2022
Ruby Isabelle (Souza) Von Dwornick of Cambridge died October 29, 2022, at age 65 from complications related to ovarian cancer and Covid-19.
Ruby was born to the late Walter and Ruby (Ray) Souza on May 20, 1957. She was raised in a large and caring family as the youngest of seven children. She was preceded in death by her siblings Edith, Walter, Lawrence, Richard, and Patricia; and her stepsiblings Tom, Anne, Joe, and Johnny; and her beloved husband, Daniel Von Dwornick.
Ruby devoted herself to her family, friends, and her faith. Her favorite word was “joy” based on a spiritual belief that “men are, that they might have joy.” She brought joy into our lives in so many ways, from the movie screen to her social posts, inviting us to come along for the journey. She loved her longtime companion, her furry Lucy, as well as photography, flowers, music, lighthouses (especially Nubble Light!), rainbows, pandas, and of course Jiminy Cricket. Her optimism and positivity were contagious, even in the face of adversity. She believed that each day is an opportunity to live better and that we are here to help each other out.
Ruby is survived by her sister Sandra, her cherished aunts Jeanette and Joan; her stepsiblings Irene, Carol, and Bob; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and many other loving relatives and friends. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity and how she lived with an open heart.
Onward, upward, and skyward to the heavens, you will be forever in our hearts.

Please accept our deepest sympathies.
We had the great pleasure to meet Ruby about 20 years ago at the Boston Pops 4th of July celebration when the Tabernacle Choir was performing. Ruby had the ability to walk into room of strangers and walk out of a room full of friends. We count ourselves as friends from then on.
Ruby lived Luke 2:10, “I bring you good tidings of great joy.”
You are in our thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely,
Michael and Denise Sullivan
Sincerely,
