Donald was born in Aberdeen, South Dakota.  As a young man he enjoyed fishing, trap shooting and duck hunting.  Donald went to Northern State University and earned an Associate’s Degree in printing and worked as a printer until his eyesight prematurely declined.  He owned a gas station for a while but decided to move to New England for better opportunities for employment.  After moving to Massachusetts in 1984, Donald went to work for BASF Corporation in Bedford as a Security Guard Captain. That is where he met Maria as she was working as the receptionist at BASF.  They married in 1986 and he moved into Maria’s house in Burlington with her two sons.  Don later changed careers again and worked in the accounting department at BASF and then at Lahey Clinic until he retired in 2011.
