Albano, Mary Rose (Carlos) of Cambridge, April 30, 2020 at age 89.

Devoted wife of the late Raymond L. Albano. Loving mother of Donna Sousa and her husband Jose, Ramona Hopkins and her former husband Ralph, Patricia O’Connell and her husband Patrick and the late Raymond V. Albano.  Cherished grandmother of Natalie Rodriguez and her husband Nelson, Melissa, Joseph and Matthew Sousa, Tadd Hopkins and his wife Susie, Casey and Kaela O’Connell.  Adored great-grandmother of Daniel and Madeline Rodriguez. Beloved sister of Margaret Lillian Ferrigno and her late husband John, and the late George Carlos, and Alvaro Carlos and his late wife Georgina. Also survived by nieces, nephews, and many other loving relatives and friends.

Mary was born and raised in Somerville and lived in Cambridge her whole life.  She worked at Hyde’s Shoes before becoming a housewife.  She served as a translator for the Portuguese community by accompanying neighbors to doctor’s, social security, immigration offices, banking and other appointments.  Mary also worked for and retired from the Cambridge Public School Department as a cafeteria aide.  After retirement she was a volunteer for Cambridge’s Elder Services and assisted with delivering Meals on Wheels to residents of her apartment complex.  She was a loving grandmother who adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Mary was a member of Santo Cristo and the P.A.C.L. of Cambridge.  She loved to dance and did so at our local festivals, enjoyed day trips to the beach and was a big fan of Mickey Mouse.  She will be remembered for her daily walks in the neighborhood greeting friends.

Services Are Private.

Even though at this point and time it is nearly impossible to gather and mourn the loss of a loved one, it is still possible for families and friends to be supportive and compassionate. May we suggest you reach out by telephone, email, or perhaps mailing them a card or leaving your words of sympathy on the funeral home website?
