Ligia (DoCouto) Taylor – 78
A longtime Somerville resident died suddenly on Saturday, February 18, 2017.
Born in Sao Miguel, Acores, she was the daughter of the late Gulunaria & Manuel DoCouto.
Ligia was the wife of the late George A. Carvalho and the loving mother of the late George M. Carvalho. She was the cherished Vavo’ of Alexander & Madison Carvalho, loving sister of Victor DoCouto & his wife Carole of Somerville, Teresa Cardoso & her husband Joe of Stoneham and the late Gualter M. do Couto and Maria E. Cappucci. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other loving relatives & friends.
As an active member of St. Clement Parish, Ligia was a member of Catholic Daughters and a volunteer with the St. Clement High School, Religious Education Program and many other parish organizations. Ligia was also a board member at Somerville Cambridge Elder Services where she served as President, Vice President, Treasurer and Clerk during her 23 years of service.
Ligia’s funeral will be from the Rogers Funeral Home, 380 Cambridge St., Cambridge on Friday, March 3, 2017 at 9:00 am.
Her Rite of Christian Burial will be at St. Clement Church, 71 Warner St., Medford, at 10:00 am.
Burial will follow immediately after at the Cambridge Cemetery, 176 Coolidge Ave., in Cambridge.
Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, March 2, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
