Griffin, James A., of Arlington, died January 15, 2012 surrounded by family after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer at age of 47. Devoted husband of Betsy (Melo) Griffin. Loving father of Julia and Rachel Griffin. Son of the late Robert and Vivian Griffin of Baltimore, Maryland. Brother of Patti, Kelli, Robert and the late Kathi Griffin. Son in Law of Alberto and Liliana Melo. Brother in law of Kristine Houle and her husband Rick, James Melo, Steven Melo and his wife Elizabeth, Nicholas Melo and his wife Susan. Guardian of Emily Abosch. Also survived by nieces, nephews and many other loving relatives and friends. Visiting Hours at The Rogers Funeral Home, 380 Cambridge St., Cambridge on Thursday, January 19th from 4 to 8 pm. Funeral Mass at St. Eulalia Church, 50 Ridge St., Winchester on Friday, January 20th, at 10:00 am. Interment will be at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Stoneham.

James was a loving husband and father and enjoyed all Boston professional sports. Jim was committed to his work with his students and athletes. He was employed at Wayland High School for the past 11 years as guidance counselor and coach. As a dedicated guidance counselor and coach at both Wakefield and Wayland High Schools, Jim positively impacted the lives of so many students and families over the years.
