Marilyn Stanton Website

1946 - 2025

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Marilyn L Stanton of Westford, Massachusetts. She was born in Lowell, Massachusetts in 1946, to John and Louise Davlin. Marilyn graduated from Lowell High School and earned an associates degree from Bradford Junior College. Marilyn enjoyed dancing from a young age, and taught at a local dance school. She met her husband, Bob, in her family’s living room. He was at a Newman Club meeting hosted by her brother and the only one to stand up when she entered the room. Their fairytale level marriage began in 1967. Marilyn and Bob quickly departed for Ohio where Bob served in the US Air Force and they raised their family of four children. Marilyn enjoyed motherhood tremendously and excelled at it both in Ohio and when the family relocated to Westford, Massachusetts. Here, she was one of the original soccer moms who somehow got all four kids safely to all of their always conflicting events. Then, Marilyn reinvented herself and went to work at Digital to help put her children through college. With almost all four children out of the nest, Marilyn and Bob started a new chapter as owner operators of the McDonald’s in Warner, New Hampshire. At the age of 52, Marilyn was in a car accident which left her paraplegic. Afterwards, it became clear to everyone around her how truly strong and optimistic she had always been. Her biggest love was her big family. She spent time playing games and coloring with each and every one of her grandchildren whenever possible and adored them at all times.

Marilyn leaves to carry on her legacy her children and their partners Lynn and Jeff MacDonald, Laura and Kevin Scaplen, Rob(ert) and Kelly Stanton, and Mary and Philip Chaves, along with a large and loving extended family including eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Marilyn enters into the loving arms of her husband, Robert (Bob) Stanton, her parents, her brother, James Davlin, and her dear sisters-in-law, Jane Doherty and Julie Stanton.

A funeral mass will be held at Saint Anthony’s Parish Catholic Church, 400 Cardinal Medeiros Avenue, Cambridge, MA, on Saturday, March 29th at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The ARC Tampa Bay Foundation.
