Mrs. Laura Freitas (Gouveia), formerly of Cambridge and Peabody, MA, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 25, 2023, at the age of 92. She was the loving wife of Anthony Freitas for 36 years before he passed away in March 1991.
Born in Cambridge, MA, the daughter of the late Maximiano and Narciza Gouveia, Laura had five siblings. She is survived by her sister Josephine Robinson and her brother Joseph Gouveia and his wife MaryAnn. She was predeceased by her sister Ezaura Silva and her brothers John Gouveia and Maximiano Gouveia, Jr.
She lived most of her life in East Cambridge, growing up and raising her children in the same multi-family home she shared with her parents and her brother’s family. She cherished the close family and friends that were always welcome at the house on Hurley Street and would gather in the yard, in the garage, and under the grapevine.
She was a loving mother to two sons, Anthony Freitas and his wife Shari of West Barnstable, MA, and Kenneth Freitas and his wife Cynthia of West Newbury, MA.
She was a devoted grandmother to four grandchildren, Rachel Daubert and her husband Justin of Forestdale, MA, Cara Freitas of Los Angeles, CA, Tony Freitas of Austin, TX, and James Freitas of Edgartown, MA.
She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who were always a source of joy and happiness for her.

Funeral Mass, 11:00 am at Saint Anthony’s Church, 400 Cardinal Medeiros Avenue, Cambridge, MA.
Visiting hours on Monday, January 1st from 2:00 to 6:00 pm, at the funeral home in Cambridge.
Interment at Cambridge Cemetery, Cambridge, MA.
