Manuel Arruda's immortal soul quietly slipped it's mortal bonds in the early morning hours of October 25, 2010 while he slept at home. He left as he had lived - humble, loving and loved. He was in the company of his loyal and loving wife of 60 years, Delzira, when he took his last breath on this earth in the peaceful certainty that he had lived a good life. In life Manuel had one great love - his family. Together with his wife, Manuel nurtured into adulthood and across two continents Luis Fernando Arruda, Helena Medeiros, Deodato Arruda and Gabriela Arruda. He welcomed into and loved as his own their respective spouses- Pamela, Aires. Kim and Doug. He celebrated the birth of each of his 10 grandchildren with unsurpassed joy and delighted in the company of Craig, Danielle, Matthew, Clifford, Brianne, Corrina, Ethan, Luccia, Barryphillip and Nathaniel. Most recently he was overwhelmed to meet his two great granddaughters, Ella Rose and Myah, whose very existence inspired him to believe even more deeply in the goodness of a higher power and have faith in the existence of a bridge to heaven. No matter how great the sorrow, or how deep the pain, or how burning the memory of things left undone might be, Manuel bore it with grace and dignity with the strength that comes from the love of a good wife and devoted children. Manuel lived a happy earthbound life surrounded by love and he starts his new adventure the same way.
