Arruda, Maria Natalia (Marques), 88, of Somerville, passed away July 15, 2020 at Mount Auburn Hospital enveloped by the love of her family. Devoted and cherished wife of the late Jose F. Arruda.  Loving mother to Berta Fontes and her husband Antonio of Somerville, Carlos Arruda and his wife Connie of West Bridgewater, Ana Isabel Sousa and her husband Joe of Medford, and Maria Grace MacDonald and her husband David of Franklin.  Adoring grandmother to Richard Fontes, Andrea Fontes, Daniela Nilsson, Andrew Arruda, David Sousa, Christine Urbina, Emily MacDonald, Matthew MacDonald, and Rachael Ouellette MacDonald.  Amazing great-grandmother to Alexis, Lucas, Joshua, Aria, Nora, Clara, Ethan, Adeline, Amelia, Nathan, Jacob, Hiro and Kenji.  Also survived by her brother Gilberto Marques and his wife Emilia of Cambridge Ontario, her sister Alda and her husband Edmundo of Toronto, Ontario, and sister-in-law Maria Natalia Medeiros and her husband Eduardo of Somerville, and many wonderful and loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Born in Livramento, Sao Miguel , Acores, she moved to Somerville in 1975 with her husband to give her family a brighter future.  Hard working, loving and compassionate, her pride and joy was her family.  She will be greatly missed.

Funeral from the Rogers Funeral Home, 380 Cambridge St., Cambridge on Friday, July 17th, 2020 at 9:00 am.   Funeral mass at. St. Anthony’s Church, 400 Cardinal Medeiros Avenue, in Cambridge at 10:00 am.  Visiting hours at the funeral home on Thursday, July 16th, 2020 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in her memory to Project Soup, 165 Broadway, Somerville, MA 02145 or to St. Anthony’s Church in Cambridge.

Due to Covid – 19 the funeral home is limited to 40 people inside the funeral home and a mask must be worn at all times. The funeral home & the family are asking those who plan to attend to please come in, pay your condolence’s and then exit to make it possible for others to do the same.

Due to Covid - 19, Massachusetts Tracing Guidelines and the Guidelines of the Archdiocese of Boston, seating is limited to 95 people in church. For this reason, anyone wishing to attend the funeral mass, must call Rogers Funeral Home at 617-876-8964 between the hours of 9:00 am and 1:00 pm prior to the service to register. (No one will be allowed to enter the church before the Rogers Funeral Home staff arrives.)
