Manuel G. Almeida a lifelong resident of East Cambridge died on May 1, 2020 at age 96.  He was the devoted husband of the late Lucy M. Almeida (Pacheco), son of the late Cizaltina (Pacheco) and Joaoquim Almeida and is survived by nieces, nephews and many other loving  relatives.  Manny was a US Army WWII Veteran who served proudly within the Military Police Company SCU 1125 over seas from December of 1942 until March of 1944. While serving in Europe Manny was wounded during combat in Italy.  After returning home he went to work as a U.S. Postal Mail Carrier which he did until he retired.

All services will be private.

Even though at this point and time it is nearly impossible to gather and mourn the loss of a loved one, it is still possible for families and friends to be supportive and compassionate. May we suggest you reach out by telephone, email, or perhaps mailing them a card or leaving your words of sympathy on the funeral home website?

I remember playing nightly whist games with you at the Gomes. Your one-liners, jokes, singing and whistling lightened up every hour of play. Your service to your country and your love of family and friends showed your compassion and dedication. You are fondly missed by those you leave behind and embraced by those waiting for you. God has called on you, in these distressing times, to brighten up His Heavens. The earth was merely your footstool, now you walk in greatness alongside your dear wife. Rest in peace!

Dear uncle Manny,
You are a bright and vivid memory of my youth. I remember you walking the Cambridge streets in your postal uniform bag at the ready. The epitome of health and vigor. I remember listening intently to your stories in Nana’s Hallway as boy and young man. All those memories.
Go forth Dear uncle Manny as heaven awaits you and nnever ending sparkle in your eyes and your smile.
