Baia, Nelia (Vieira) of Fitchburg, September 21,2018 at age 52, formerly of Cambridge. Devoted wife of James J. Baia. Loving mother of Benjamin, Emily and Haley Baia. Cherished daughter of Arminda Vieira and the late Carlos Vieira. Beloved sister of Lucy Valerio, Maria Vieira, Connie Correia, Ana Cabral, Eduarda Chaves, Maryann Sousa, Fatima Fountain and Susan Kowalski. Nelia will be greatly missed by her dogs Cookie and Buddy, as well as many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Funeral from the Rogers Funeral Home, 380 Cambridge St., Cambridge on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at 8:00 am. Funeral mass at St. Anthony’s Church, 400 Cardinal Medeiros Ave., in Cambridge at 9:00 am. Visiting hours Monday, September 24, 2018 at the funeral home from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Nelia came to the United States from Sao Miguel, Acores, Portugal when she was just 1 ½ years old, (the sixth of the nine Vieira girls) and lived in Cambridge most of her life. She had an affection for Lady Bugs, enjoyed music, but was her happiest when spending time with her children and her family.
