Silva, Bernard R. “Bernie” Jr. of Reading died peacefully at age 87, on Wednesday, May 31st, at the Kaplan Hospice House in Danvers after a courageous battle with cancer.  Bernie leaves his loving devoted wife and best friend of 47 years, Yvonne (Corbin-Plecinoga) Silva. He was the dear father of Bernard R. “Skip” Silva III, Bonnie Lee Tryder and her husband Russ and the late William J. Silva.  He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Vicki Lee Silva, 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grand children.  Bernie was born in Cambridge on September 3, 1929, the son of the late Bernard R. and Martha (Hamilton) Silva. He was the brother of Florence Cook, Joseph Silva, Barbara Spurrell and the late Francis Silva and Agnes Carty. He will also be missed by his in laws, Marie and Paul Thibault, Jeannette Lessa and many nieces and nephews.  Visiting hours at the Rogers Funeral Home, 380 Cambridge St., Cambridge on Monday, June 5, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.  A Funeral mass will be held at St. Athanasius Church, 300 Haverhill St., Reading at 11:00 am on Tuesday June 6, 2017.  Bernie practiced law in the Boston area since 1957 specializing in family law, and retired at the age of 80 in 2010. In 2007 he was honored by the Massachusetts Bar Association for his 50 years of practicing law.  He was a graduate of Rindge Tech High School in Cambridge, Northeastern University and Boston University Law School, was admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court,  served proudly in the U.S. Army, Second Infantry Division, was the Former Supreme President of the Portuguese American Civic League of Massachusetts, a member of the Massachusetts and Middlesex Bar Association, an advocate of father’s rights in the Probate Courts and very proud to be an Eagle Scout in the Cambridge Boys Scouts.
